POTTERY STATEMENT

I make my pottery with low fire earthenware clay. I choose this clay because it is easy to work with and the low fire temps keep the colors rich and bright which I like.

I hand build. I either build from a pattern that I create or form on a mold or build from the ground up. It just depends on what I am doing and the look I want. I love to experiment.

I hand paint each piece. I do not use decals. I generally just sit down, look at the piece, thumb through my many sketch books and then start drawing and painting right on the piece.

No two pieces are going to look alike. The form will be different and the images will look different. When you have a piece of Suzimade Pottery, you will have a one of a kind piece. I never copy anyone else's work.

My process is as follows:
I make the piece then either paint on the greenware or bisque and paint. It depends on the piece. I then glaze with a clear glaze, fire again and done!

All my work is food safe and microwave and dishwasher safe, however I do recommend hand washing. Also, use pot holders to remove from microwave. Earthenware does get hotter to touch.

Hope you will consider owning a piece of my pottery.
Thank you for your time.
